Hotel Vinyl Decal Promotion

A hotel chain in the Midwest wanted to boost its food and drink sales at night, but they faced a problem:  their guests, instead of taking advantage of the hotel restaurant and bar, were holing up in their rooms watching television.

They posted some well-placed signage to encourage guests to escape the boredom of late-night television to go out and have some fun!  They utilized a large vinyl decal which read: ” Warning! Watching TV Alone Causes Boredom!“  They placed the decal over the television screen, ensuring that their guests’ see the promotion.  The decal pointed guests’ to the hotel restaurant and bar, sealing the deal by telling guests’ that if they mention the promotion, they would receive the nightly special!  This allowed the hotel managers to analyze the effectiveness of their promotion, as well as boost their food and drink sales.

Promotional Points -

1)  Aggressive, yet fun problem-solving – the hotel found a way to be aggressive in marketing their bar and restaurant, yet did so with a playful, happy-go-lucky tone.
2)  Well-integrated design – the hotel managers utilized the objects already in the room (the television) to help create an effective marketing scheme!  Use what you already have in creative, thoughtful ways!
3)  Cleverness goes a long way - a few guests mentioned that they had little interest in the hotel bar and restaurant, but they appreciated the promotion so much that they decided to go, anyway.
4)  Good information – another guest stated that he didn’t even know that the hotel had a restaurant and bar!  He was able to find it with ease because of the information given on the decal.
